I don’t get it when parents are disappointed if their child cries in Santa’s lap. Don’t get me wrong; I was thrilled last year when Eleanora sat happily for several snapshots with Mr. Claus. But to me, there is just no better – or more classic – Christmas photo than a child wailing in terror in the lap of the Jolly Old Elf.

Before you think I sound like a big meanie, check out this photo from several years ago of my sweet nieces, Fiona (screaming) and Emily (smiling). It is my favorite Christmas photo of all time.

Winter Photos

Honorable mention goes to my nephew Cooper in this amazing photo from last year:

Christmas & Winter Photos

Can you blame little Fiona and Cooper? In the song, we actually tell these poor children, “You better watch out… Santa Claus is coming to town.” Who is this Santa guy? Black Bart? “He knows if you’ve been bad or good.” Um, what? But the part about, “He sees you when you’re sleeping”? That there, folks, is terrifying.

So – in the interest of scaring children into hilarious holiday photos – on the Second Day of Christmas…

THE “SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN” PLAYLIST

Be good… for goodness sake (aka or else),
