In case you didn’t notice at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Eleanora’s birthday, or several times throughout the Christmas season, I’m kind of obsessed with making playlists on iTunes. Obviously I made one for St. Patrick’s Day. Here are some of the highlights, for your green-beer-drinking pleasure this Saturday. I recommend sprinkling these in with some of your favorite (non-St-Patrick’s-Day) tunes.
- Wearing of the Green – The Wolfe Tones
- Irish Washerwoman – The Irish Folk
- Seoladh Na Ngamhna – Solas
- The Rocky Road to Dublin – The Chieftains and The Rolling Stones
- When Irish Eyes Are Smiling – The Irish Tenors
- Toss the Feathers – The Corrs
- We’re On the One Road – The Wolfe Tones
- The Orange and the Green – The Irish Rovers
- Irish Dancing Jig – Irish & Celtic Folk Wanderers
- Danny Boy – Celtic Woman
- Bird in the Tree – Solas
(Sorry, Enya and Sinead. You didn’t make it this year. May you have the luck of the Irish next year.)
We will be celebrating the Emerald Isle by making this seriously delicious Crockpot Corned Beef and Braised Cabbage (pdf)…
… and by playing with Eleanora’s St. Patrick’s Day balloon. I tried to get a decent photo of her with it. Here’s how that worked out.
And of course we will send our biggest St. Patrick’s Day birthday wishes to my sweet nephew, Cooper, who turns the big 0-2 on Saturday.
Cooper, we love you so!
Eirinn go bragh,
