Hello, Neighbors!
Did you know that Mister Rogers is, like, my most favorite person ever? I even own a replica of the Neighborhood Trolley that segued us from Mister Rogers’s living room into the super awesome Neighborhood of Make Believe.
If you also love Mister Rogers, if you have ever watched public television, or if you believe in quality, educational programming, then you might want to know that there are currently five bills in Congress that would eliminate or severely restrict funding for public broadcasting in America. If any of these bills were to pass, it would have a devastating effect on public radio and television stations across the country. So I am using my blog today to appeal to you for help and support.
When public television was in jeopardy 40 years ago, Mister Rogers went to Congress to fight for it. (And if you have never seen the video of that, you can watch it here — have a box of tissues handy.) Now that we are once again in the same difficult spot, PBS needs our help. If you can find 30 seconds to spare today, please go to www.170millionamericans.org and fill out your information under “Get Involved.”
Thanks, y’all… I’m working on some Valentine’s Day projects for later this week!
xoxo,
