My friend Sydney is taking a two-week vacation to Thailand (raise your hand if you’re jealous), and she asked if I had any suggestions for travel music. Do I ever.

But with the holidays coming up, Sydney isn’t the only one packing her suitcase. Hubba Bubba, Eleanora, and I – like many others – are among those who will be in the air and on the road this Thanksgiving. While I realize some folks can’t resist starting the Christmas music on November 1 (present company secretly included), here is a non-holiday, anytime travel playlist for those who aren’t quite ready for holiday carols… and for those needing a break from Jingle Bell Rock.

We’ve been back from our Kentucky trip for a few weeks now, but I’m just now getting around to posting these photos. It’s my cleaning lady’s fault, or my EX-cleaning-lady, I should say. I could launch into a fuming diatribe about that, but suffice it to say my pet tornado and I are currently cleaning lady-less. Therefore, my to-do list has gotten a lot longer. (If anyone has a recommendation for a reliable housekeeper, the Duffys are hiring.)

Anyway, here’s Eleanora in Kentucky with her cousin Cooper. 🙂

In my family we are big fans of South Carolina, especially the Charleston area.

    Charleston houses

The salty beach air, rich history, and friendly locals are all big draws, of course, but what really keeps me coming back to Lowcountry is the cuisine. How can one resist a place where there are pralines on every corner, and where all the restaurant menus offer up fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, and some of the freshest seafood you’ve ever had?

Hey there! The Lexingtonienne is back from a visit to the homeland. It was my first trip away from Eleanora (long overdue, probably, but that’s just the way it worked out). And while E and her daddy got lots of father-daughter bonding time over a long weekend at home in LA, I got to enjoy a rainy Lexington weekend with these precious people:
