We’re back from a visit to Kentucky! Our first order of business was to get my best friend, Jenny, married to her knight in shining armor, Brett. I don’t have a photo of her as bride (since I was a bridesmaid and was carrying a bouquet of flowers in lieu of my camera or iPhone). But here she is a couple of years ago posing with another knight in shining armor.

And here I am with my dear friends Amelia and Glenda at the wedding reception. This black and white comes to you courtesy of Glenda and her husband, David.

After the wedding, Hubba Bubba had to fly back to LA for work, but Eleanora and I stayed to hang out with family and enjoy October in Kentucky. We drove out to the pumpkin patch on a gorgeous fall day.

And pumpkin patches mean… Halloween! As usual, we have no big Halloween plans besides trick-or-treating. I am not much of a Halloween person. I don’t like getting scared, and I don’t think it’s nice when people try to scare you. And by “you” I mean “me.” But as with every other major holiday and minor event, I do love a good Halloween playlist. Here’s the link to last year’s suggestions, which are still in the rotation.

And here are some new ones for you, in case you ARE a big Halloween person and need some ideas for your giant Halloween bash. I assembled this list song by song, choosing themes of superstition, danger, and paranoia. I also look for minor keys, a sense of the macabre, and sometimes, the just plain weird (see “Breakfast Machine”).

  1. The Headless Horseman by Kay Starr
  2. Devil In Disguise by Elvis Presley
  3. Poison by Alice Cooper
  4. Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme) by John Williams
  5. Breakfast Machine (from “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure”) by Danny Elfman
  6. Another One Bites the Dust by Queen
  7. It’s Tricky by Run DMC
  8. March of the Meanies by The Beatles
  9. Another Brick In the Wall (Part 2) by Pink Floyd
  10. The Boogie Monster by Gnarls Barkley
  11. Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones
  12. Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon
  13. Pressure by Billy Joel
  14. Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite by The Beatles
  15. The Batman Theme by Danny Elfman
  16. Pet Sematary by The Ramones
  17. The Devil Went Down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band
  18. Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra
  19. Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson
  20. Theme from “Beetlejuice” by Danny Elfman

More photos of our Kentucky visit to come…

xoxo,
Hannah
