Alameda Health Consortium – Workforce Development & Learning Development Summer Intern

WHO WE ARE:

The Alameda Health Consortium is the regional association of community health centers that work together and support the involvement of our communities in achieving comprehensive, accessible health care and improved outcomes for everyone in Alameda County, California.

AHC and our network of eight (8) Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) serve over 270,000 patients across Alameda, Solano, and Contra Costa counties, providing culturally appropriate and linguistically diverse services across 95 clinic sites. The FQHCs offer a wide spectrum of programs, including primary care, integrated behavioral health, specialty care, and targeted Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) interventions.

THE POSITION:

The Workforce Development & Learning Development Intern, will play a pivotal role in enhancing the professional growth of our workforce dedicated to serving our patient community. You will contribute to various projects aimed at enhancing staff development and organizational effectiveness within our healthcare network. This internship offers an immersive experience in workforce planning, training program development, and performance evaluation, providing valuable insights into the intersection of human resources and healthcare programs.

Projects may include:

  • Conduct needs assessments across our 8-member health centers to identify existing Grow Your Own Program and pipeline programs.
  • Research best practices for establishing a comprehensive training inventory across the organization
  • Evaluate data from our distance learning platform (Cornerstone) to identify areas for enhancement
  • Apply evaluation findings and research industry best practices to enhance the employee onboarding experience
  • Develop and facilitate trainings and peer-learning opportunities
  • Design and execute surveys for clinical Continuing Medical Education (CME) participants to gather insights on preferred topics for future presentations
  • Contribute to the exploration and implementation of innovative solutions
  • Contributing to innovative solutions that have not yet been identified

Responsibilities may include:

  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data through surveys, focus groups, and other metrics
  • Summarize findings into comprehensive reports and presentations for CHCN leadership
  • Manage projects from planning to execution and evaluation
  • Perform any other duties as required

Desired skillset:

  • Experience building and implementing professional development opportunities
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including staff, providers, and leadership.
  • Strong prioritization abilities and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Interest in working with underserved and/or marginalized populations.
