STUDENT ASSISTANT EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LOS ANGELES CITY MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE,
THE PAY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION WILL GO INTO EFFECT ON 06/23/2024.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Student Guest Services Supervisor and with the guidance of the Building Operations Coordinator, the Student Guest Services Assistant is responsible for providing general information services to members of the University community and campus guests, and for providing general receptionist duties for University Student Union (USU) employees.
JOB DUTIES:
- Handles customer initiated requests for information
- Solicits and maintains information that may be of benefit to inquiring guests
- Relays guest concerns to appropriate personnel
- Stays abreast of information regarding USU and University programs and services
- Prepares reports and correspondence
- Attends periodic meetings and workshops on behalf of the area
- Maintains lost and found items and coordinates pick-up by campus security
- Assists USU employees with other work-related projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student
EXPERIENCE
No previous related experience and/or specialized education required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work a minimum of 10/hours/week based on the operational needs and working hours of the department.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

SUPERVISION:
Supervision is provided by the Guest Services Supervisor and with the guidance of the Building Operations Coordinator
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule Monday-Friday, must possess an ability and willingness to work some academic interim and break periods as needed; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
