Job Description
Tom James Company is seeking a seasoned seamstress/tailor to support their Detroit sales office. Seamstress/tailor must demonstrate a commitment to excellence by consistently delivering the finest tailored clothing. Individual must perform work in own facility with own equipment. As a 1099 independent contractor, seamstress/tailor will be paid on a competitive piece-rate basis. Candidate should expect to work roughly 30-35 hours a week.
Tailor Job Summary:
Performs alterations on clients' high-end garments on a timely basis
Delivers professionally finished garments on a consistent basis
Demonstrates knowledge of fabrics, standard tailoring concepts, and quality workmanship for both men and women garments
Performs alterations on all submitted garments
Completes altered garments in a timely manner to meet customer delivery date
Ensures finished garments are client-ready by pressing and removing threads
Interacts with sales professionals and clients with professionalism
Qualifications: Minimum 5 years tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environment
Strong working knowledge of garment construction for both men’s and women's apparel
Ability to perform high quality workmanship by both hand and machine
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail
