Job Description
The Department of Human Performance at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applications for a probationary, Assistant Professor beginning August 19, 2026. The successful candidate will have a doctorate degree in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology, Kinesiology or related field by August 1, 2026. This position requires teaching and advising to support the undergraduate programs in Human Performance and graduate program in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the following undergraduate and graduate courses: HP 290 Psycho-social Aspects of Sport, HP 630 Techniques of Research, HP 646 Exercise Psychology and Behavior Change, HP 648 Professional Ethics in Sport and Exercise Psychology, HP 672 Psychology of Sport and Athletic Injury, HP 683 Working with Diverse Populations in Sport Psychology, HP 649 Sport and American Culture, HP 690 Practicum in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology, and/or other courses based on program needs and successful candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate should currently hold or have potential to become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and approved mentor with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology within the first year of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct supervision to graduate students during day, afternoon, and evening hours depending on the consulting schedule for team sessions. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual supervision of graduate students’ individual client sessions.
This position requires active engagement in scholarship, advising of master's thesis, continuing preparation, services to the University, community and discipline.

The Department of Human Performance offers undergraduate programs in Exercise Science, Physical Education-DAPE, and Sport Management and graduate programs in Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, and Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology.
