How was your weekend? We spent ours getting into the Halloween spirit by taking Eleanora to her first pumpkin patch.

We went at the worst time of day for photos (when the sun is high in the sky, live and learn). As a result, she was having a hard time looking up at the camera.

But we have photos of our baby! Amid pumpkins!

Cross that off the list.

We have absolutely NO plans for Halloween. But that didn’t stop me from making a super sweet Halloween playlist (which does not include Monster Mash). In case you ARE doing something for Halloween and need to make a playlist — maybe you are the festive type who hosts a costume party or dinner party, or a COSTUME DINNER PARTY (!!!) — here are some of the highlights:

1. A Nightmare on My Street by Will Smith, back when he was the Fresh Prince
2. Halloween by Dave Matthews
3. Theme Song from Alfred Hitchcock Presents (see also: Ghostbusters, Munsters, Twilight Zone)
4. Toccata in D Minor (the quintessential spooky organ music)
5. I Put a Spell on You by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
6. Overture to Phantom of the Opera
7. Time Warp from Rocky Horror Picture Show
8. Somebody’s Watching Me by Rockwell
9. (Don’t Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult (more cow bell!)
10. Overture from The Nightmare Before Christmas
11. Bad Things (Theme to True Blood) by Jace Everett
12. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by The Eurythmics
13. Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter
14. Theme Song from Halloween
15. Thriller by Michael Jackson (duhhh)

Also, anything from a Tim Burton film that was composed by Danny Elfman is pretty much a given. And I personally l-o-v-e Bluegrass music at this time of year. It feels very “fall harvest.” I highly recommend anything by Lexington natives Daniel & Amy Carwile. They’re on iTunes.
